X-Factor 2010 Results: Twitter Reacts

by onlinesocialmedia

For those of you who’ve been following the X-Factor, tonight was the night that many of you had been waiting for as Wagner finally met his marching orders. Twitter has been alive in recent weeks because of the huge controversy surrounding this contestant who couldn’t hold a note and yet was consistently kept in the competition week after week.

Another contestant who’d met a certain amount of controversy was Katie Waissel who also left the competition as it was a double eviction week. Mary Byrne survived to sing another week. It had been reported there was a concerted campaign to keep Wagner in the show organized by the same group that tried, and achieved, to keep the X-Factor winner’ single from the No. 1 slot last year and over the last week or so this was much discussed on Twitter.

Simon Cowell referred to this campaign when voting for Wagner to leave by saying, “I got to know Wagner over the last few weeks and you’ve been a great sport. Why I am happy with the decision though is because there were people out there trying to derail this show for different reasons. Tonight, we put the show back in the hands of the public and we’re backing talent,” according to Lisa McGarry over on Unreality TV.

The Twittersphere has been ablaze with comments since the eviction earlier tonight with one person saying her Christmas had come early because of the result and another saying she was mega happy. Another Twitterer called Wagner a good sport although looking at the overall picture the vast majority of tweets seem to be happy that he’s finally gone. You can see the Twitter response on this Twitter page here.

What are your thoughts on the eviction of Wagner and also Katie Waissel? We’d love to know so please feel free to send us your comments about the X-Factor.
