With the World Cup 2010 coming up in South Africa in the summer, Coca-Cola has released details of their vast related marketing push across 150 markets with three ads, one of which will be run exclusively on social media.
The campaign will begin next month with an ad featuring Cameroon’s Roger Milla’s infamous celebrations for his goal during 1990, which just happened to be in front of a Coke billboard. The History of Celebration ad will be trailed by two more ads.
The Quest ad will be encouraging people to upload videos of their own goal celebrations to YouTube. The group director of worldwide sports and entertainment marketing at Coca-Cola, Emmanuel Seuge says the digital strategy is all part of the aim to target younger viewers.
It’s a sure sign we’ll see more and more advertising aimed at social media and this will be one of many I’m sure, from other global companies. For the full story go to nma.co.uk.
