Facebook owned WhatsApp is not only tied to mobile devices, it will now work on desktops but there are a few downsides.
Yes, at last the WhatsApp Web is for desktop users, 700 million users on smartphones and tablets are already using the normal WhatsApp and now the numbers will climb thanks to its new path.
The world’s most popular messaging app is called ‘ WhatsApp Web’, the downsides include: The WhatsApp Web only works in Google Chrome, it has to be linked to your mobile device app, and iPhone users are not able to use it yet.
But, good news is to come because more browsers are coming soon. Wonder if they will add the new Windows 10 Spartan browser?
The desktop version only works with the mobile app, which means a paired phone and Internet connection is need to proceed. It looks like iPhone users have to wait because those using the app on Windows, BlackBerry or Android will be able to use the desktop version.
WhatsApp founder Jan Koum said yesterday in his Facebook post, “the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device – this means all of your messages still live on your phone.”
To download WhatsApp Web just visit here, you have to be using a Google Chrome browser.
Are you happy WhatsApp has come to the desktop?
