We have learned that Verizon is planning their time at CES 2011 to be all about Android, ruling out the Verizon iPhone. This will disappoint many who were hoping that the Verizon iPhone may pop up. So far we haven’t seen much of Apple appearing at CES 2011; another theory was that they would show up and reveal a CDMA enabled iPhone. Check out Verizon’s official statement on their website here.
If Apple follows the trend that they have already set with their current models, officially announcing the device in January, then we would be perhaps looking at a release date of June. Whilst this may be the case, it will not stop people from speculating and of course, any one of them could be right.
For instance, Alex Wagner of PhoneDog.com has written an article saying that the possibility of a Verizon iPhone in February would make sense and that he wouldn’t be surprised if it was introduced sooner. Wagner makes a very good point, AT&T may not lose out so much. Whilst undoubtedly they will lose custom to the CDMA Verizon iPhone, anyone that wishes to jump ship from AT&T will have to pay their early termination fee.
When do you think the Verizon iPhone will be released? Will you make the switch from AT&T to Verizon when it happens? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
