Twitter is used by lots of people to keep up with what is happening with friends, family, celebrities, and the world. Now Twitter is helping you to discover different people to follow, with a system that they call “Suggestions for You”.
Adam Ostrow on Mashable is reporting that Twitter’s new functionality suggests to you people who you can follow, based on people you follow and the people that they follow. This means that if I’m following my friend Bob, and Bob is following Jim, Twitter will recommend that I also follow Jim. To access this new functionality, click the Find people button at the top of Twitter.
This feature is already present in Facebook under Find Your Friends, where you are given a list of people your friends are friends with so you can find people you didn’t know were on Facebook. This feature is useful for new users of any social network, as it allows them to connect with friends without having to personally search the service for each of your associates.
If you are a Twitter user, it’s probably worth a look to see if there is anybody out there you’ve missed, and it’s a handy tool to have for new users.
