For those of you who managed to get hold of an HTC EVO 4G before Sprint ran out of them, we can now tell you that some owners have started to receive the Android 2.2 Froyo update. Although only some have been receiving this over-the-air update, it should be available to all soon.
Jolie O’Dell from Mashable had learned that the update was available via a few blogs and Twitter followers, and would have been the best news they had heard for some time. This now means that they have the latest version of the Android OS running on their smartphone, which offers a number of improvements.
Froyo is not available to all Android handsets, the release has been spread out and will be working its way to only the most popular Android handsets – there is no denying that the EVO 4G is one of those.
The update has been a long time coming, as it was unveiled back in May. This update could be just what Android handsets need to make that final push to prove to Apple that their OS is faster and smoother than iOS 4.
Have you received the Android 2.2 Froyo update for your Sprint HTC EVO 4G yet?
