For gaming platform SCVNGR, the good news has been announced today that it will be incorporating a new and improved database of venues with the help of Google Places API. The location-based site gives its users the opportunity to visit places, participate in challenges, earn points and unlock badges. Upgraded venues will consist of businesses, restaurants, bars and such like along with the benefit of international support within 70 countries.
According to Jennifer Van Grove at Mashable, in the past SCVNGR users have been able to access the gaming platform via downloadable Android and iPhone mobile apps. It was made difficult at times for subscribers as SCVNGR did not have a sturdy “Places” database therefore venues would have to be entered manually, Google Places API replaces this.
Although SCVNGR has been using Twitter-owned GeoAPI they were limited to the U.S. The market only meant no external support, but today’s news opens fresh avenues.
