When you think of the smartphone market what is the first thing that pops into your mind? For most people, it will either be the phone that they already possess or the Apple iPhone or even the new bad boy from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S2.
We already know all about the Apple iPhone 4 and its general domination in the charts since its release but that was long before Android put its foot in the door and since then they have managed to keep it ajar. The devices both have great specifications and now the Samsung Galaxy S2 in its first month of sales has managed to knock the big boy off its pretty perch at the top of the UK monthly sales chart.
That’s right the Samsung Galaxy S2 has become the top-selling phone for this month and the chart itself is quite interesting. Going from the top we have the Samsung Galaxy S2 which we have added various reports about, which has moved into the top spot and the Apple iPhone 4 in second place but the rest of the chart is pretty much dominated by HTC.
We first learned of the chart through Phandroid’s Quentyn Kennemer who is implying that this is good for Samsung but also takes note that the iPhone 4 has been there for a long time which is a victory in itself. Also in that top 10 are five HTC devices and of the top 10, there are eight Android OS-based devices. You can read more about the charts over at uswitch.com where they will also show you the best monthly deals for UK users.
What do you think of the Samsung Galaxy S2? Are you surprised it has clinched the top spot for this month? Do you think it will stay there next month?
