According to reports from Associated Press, an earthquake measuring 6.2-magnitude has recently struck just west of Manila in the Philippines. This is just the latest temblor in what appears to be a particularly earthquake heavy few months for the world.
So far this year, there have been reports of earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, Japan and Los Angeles, as well as many others. The initial report had the quake at about 6.1 to 6.2 magnitude, and the shaking of the buildings in the capital was said to have lasted about 30 seconds.
As you can imagine, the event has naturally started a bit of online commotion. According to a report at gather.com, Twitter’s “Trending Topics” has already been overtaken by the news and mention of both Manila and the earthquake.
