There is no denying how popular the Old Spic Guy commercials were on YouTube, and this is more evident with the fact that sales of the brand have increased by 107 percent. This has to be proof enough that advertising via social networking is the way forward.
We are not saying that everyone will have success; they have to get things right, and the Old Spice Guy did that. What made this campaign even better was how the character from the commercials went on Twitter to answer questions from fans.
We recently showed you the stats of the videos that were shown on YouTube, but these latest sales figures came to us from Samuel Axon from Mashable. Sales of the brand had been falling in recent months, so the increase in sales of more than double could not have come at a better time; we hope to see more campaigns from Old Spice soon.
According to an article in AdWeek, Old Spice is already working on a new campaign, but without Mustafa – the guy in the ads.
We just hope that they will be able to follow in the success of the Mustafa ads, which is a tough act to follow.
