When it comes to the Motorola Xoom the actual price of it has certainly been a talking point wouldn’t you say? There are already reports about the iPad 2 perhaps killing off the buzz of the device running Android Honeycomb 3.0 from Motorola but the comments are surprising as the Xoom faithful haven’t decided to ditch their beloved tablet.
Now we have some news for you, over on Engadget their author Sean Hollister is reporting that the WiFi only version of the Xoom is being priced by Sam’s Club at $539. Hollister explains that this is quite a lot cheaper than the cellular version and a little cheaper than the new iPad 2 with similar specs.
Engadget sourced DroidLife who have several pictures showing the price hanging above the Xoom tablets. This comes as a bit of a surprise as the Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha said only a few weeks ago that the same model would be priced at $599.
There’s still no word of an official launch date as yet but the guys at DroidLife are penciling in the first week of April. When you have a look at the pictures there are also a few mistakes that we noticed, such as either ‘Android Horneycomb 2.0’ or ‘Android Homeycomb 2.0’ on the one shown below.
What do you think of this? Is this perhaps a phony or does it sound right to you? Let us know in the comments section below.
