As the rest of the world still looks on in horror with recent events in Japan, one celebrity amongst others is getting involved in an effort to raise much needed funds. The earthquake and tsunami that ripped through the North East coast of Japan early hours Friday GMT, has left not only destruction in its path but a huge loss of human life. Just yesterday we brought you 2 reports, the first being of Twitter and how the site had become a hive of activity with some 1,200 tweets being recorded every minute. Many users were trying to find out up to date information on the emergency operation, post videos and share messages and prayers.
Secondly Twitter was and is being used by many celebrities who have left their own tributes including stars such as rapper Diddy and William Shatner.
In an effort to not only raise donations but to give her support and condolences, music goddess Lady Gaga has turned to popular networking site Twitter to share her fundraising campaign. Popeater.com reported that the star who feels she has strong ties to Japan, has now designed a bracelet in red and white, with the Japanese words “We Pray For Japan” included onto it. Also on looking at the accessory closely you will notice a red hand symbolizing the celebrity’s “monster” claw. In terms of price, the bracelet will retail for $5 which can be increased if the buyer chooses and can be found at Gaga’s official online store.
Following on from this, the lady herself tweeted, “I Designed a Japan Prayer Bracelet..ALL proceeds will go to Tsunami Relief Efforts. Go Monsters.”
Many celebrities have taken to Twitter pleading for your support via the Red Cross, to make a $10 donation text REDCROSS to 90999.
