Here at OSM, our attention is being drawn to Apple’s iPhone 5 and what we might be expecting from the device which many people feel will be released in June. We’ve previously posted about some rumoured features of the next-generation iPhone and then yesterday reported on the news that it could possibly have a solar-powered back.
Now we hear more speculation, this time from Electronista that Kinsus in Taiwan has provided some tips. Kinsus is not only supplying parts for the Qualcomm chipsets for the next iPhone but the Apple Daily reports that these could be shipped before the end of March ready for a June release.
The sources also suggest an upgraded processor for the iPhone 5 as Kinsus is apparently supplying parts for a “new A8 application processor.” Whether this is for an upgrade to the ARM Cortex- A8 chip or whether for a new Apple follow-up to the A4 is not yet certain. If a successor it could therefore be a two x A4, dual-core processor. We are already seeing other upcoming phones with a dual-core processor such as the Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T and Apple will not want to be left behind in this aspect so this does seem a possibility.
We’ve also been giving details of features and a video on the developers beta for Apple iOS 4.3 and learned about new camera effects and now hear from Zach Epstein of BGR of a ‘Find My Friends’ feature for this operating system too so if you want to find out more about that hit the above link.
What would you think of an upgraded processor for the iPhone 5 and how likely is it that it will come?
