We know that many readers of OSM are interested in all the news surrounding the next-generation iPad, or iPad 2. Recent posts we’ve brought you included rumours of it being shipped in around 100 days along with the fact it would not be likely to have the retina display that many people want to see.
Two days ago we also brought you the story that several supposed cases for the next iPad had been photographed, all of which showed openings for a rear-facing camera.
This led us to believe that the next iPad will definitely have two cameras which will really impress a lot of people who are waiting for the next device. Although it’s nice to be able to speculate from the information we can glean it’s even better to have confirmation and that is what we have now. Eric Slivka over on MacRumors draws our attention to a Reuters report which states that the iPad 2 will indeed have 2 cameras. If it comes from Reuters that’s good enough confirmation for us.
Three sources for information are given, 2 of which refer to component suppliers gearing up for a new round of production and one source confirming the 2 cameras and also saying the iPad 2 will have a higher resolution display than the present iPad and will also be a slimmer design. Further to this Chris Smith over on TFTS reports that Apple has posted for Verizon iPad system engineers in New York. Although Verizon now sells the original iPad, technically speaking there is no Verizon iPad available.
In much the same way as a Verizon iPhone 4 or 5 would be a CDMA version, this certainly suggests a CDMA iPad 2 for Verizon is also on its way. What are your thoughts on these latest developments? Are you happy that the next-generation iPad will have two cameras?
