The world of the smartphone has taken twists and turns over the last little time with all sorts of devices being planned and released. The two big shots in the market at the moment are the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Apple iPhone 4 but there’s another phone that has perhaps had a name change from the HTC ChaCha to the HTC Status.
This is a fiendishly clever move for the HTC dubbed Facebook phone as it concentrates heavily on Facebook integration. OSM’s Maddy Rowe reported recently how it will have the processor speed upped as well as how it will be able to play games on Facebook, we all know how popular the likes of CityVille currently is.
We learned of this potential update through an article over on Phandroid.com by Quentyn Kennemer where he talks about how the phone will be heading to AT&T and mentions that he isn’t fully sold on the phone yet. The original source of this information is BGR and Jonathan S. Geller says that BGR has been informed exclusively of the name change.
We kind of like the idea and it fits pretty well with the concept of the entry level smartphone and it could work pretty well. We already know how successful HTC has been in recent times but to be honest I’m not sure what success this device will see in the market. So many phones have their own Facebook apps or access to it and it looks like many are moving towards Twitter such as the new integration with the iOS 5.0.
What do you guys think? Do you like the name change? Will you buy this Facebook orientated smartphone? Let us know in the comments section below.
