Attention all Android users, we have some news for you around the new up and coming updates for the Android OS. At first, most people were thinking that the Gingerbread update would be the 3.0 version but what we believe is the updates are going to be are as follows. Android 2.3 will be known as Gingerbread and 3.0 as Honeycomb.
We previously thought that Gingerbread was going to be a platform for a tablet PC however this now looks like it may not be the case, or is this going to be the beginning of a new platform similar to how apple has done with the iPhone and iPad.
So what features will be on the Gingerbread OS? According to Blake at intomobile the Gingerbread update will be a completely new UI which we at OSM believe will completely change the look and feel of the Android OS. How do you feel about that?
You have to wonder how big an update this is, as there is already an additional update planned in Honeycomb. It makes me wonder if the changes are pre-update that will help with the Honeycomb update, otherwise, why would they plan them so close together?
All the talk of the changes involve things like Google music and the new custom interface, but what would you all like to see included in the Gingerbread update? Is there any additional functionality that you want to see on the Android OS?
