Gap one of the biggest clothing retailers has joined forces with Facebook, in a new campaign to give away 10,000 pairs of jeans to anyone who checks in to the new Facebook Deals feature. Here at OSM, we reported just yesterday of the new idea to come out of the Facebook Mobile event on Wednesday.
According to Lauren Indvik at Mashable, anyone checking onto the men’s and women’s Gap U.S. Retail location using the new Deals feature will benefit from this. The feature works on the principle of the user accessing special discounts from checking into different businesses via Facebook Places on their mobile handset. Once this has been carried out, the person will need to show their check in to a member of staff at a Gap store to have any chance of winning a pair of jeans. Gap is one of a number of retailers that seem to be using social media marketing to their advantage.
Back in the summer months, the clothing chain of stores collaborated with “Groupon” to offer customers $50 worth of Gap merchandise for $25. In turn, 441,000 Groupons were sold exceeding all expectations. Along with this, Gap partnered up with location-based Foursquare and anyone checking in to one of their retail stores was offered a $25 discount.
