We have been hearing reports that Facebook is being banned in some countries, so I was wanting to know where and why. Could it be to do with Facebook’s privacy issues… possibly, could it be to do with something else… most likely?
Facebook has become a global brand and is looking to become the number 1 social networking site in the world. They are hitting stumbling blocks with security problems but to be quite honest, they aren’t the only ones. Lots of sites have the same problems including the likes of another social networking giant Twitter, to name another one, LinkedIn.
There was a recent Facebook ban in Saudi Arabia which suggests that free speech isn’t present throughout the world. There has been no information released to say WHY the ban was placed however according to thenextweb.com’s anonymous source, Facebook had “Crossed The Line”. funnily enough they didn’t give a reason as to why the ban was lifted.
Paul Sawers of thenextweb.com has also given us a bit of a history lesson when it comes to Facebook bans which you can read more about by clicking here.
Has Facebook ever been banned in your country? If it has told me why it was banned and if it had its ban lifted?
