YouTube is one of the most used websites in the world and has hundreds of millions of hours of entertainment for you to feast your eyes on. Google who owns YouTube feel that the owner’s of the channels that we watch at the moment may not be providing enough entertainment and so are considering paying the famous to upload their own wacky content.
If you like the idea of watching people like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber sitting at their computer desk pulling funny faces and talking about what they are going to have for dinner, then this new move could be a treat for you. The proposition has been described as pretty pointless by World TVPC, as celebs outside of the spotlight are likely to be boring without a script or their profession to hand.
The general idea is that Google is looking to get around 20 well known and popular celebrities to have their own YouTube channel on the site, where they upload their own home videos. Doing this may provide users with the interest of looking into their heroes private lives and having a behind the scenes look at their habits and routines. Similar to a reality TV show but recorded by amateurs and posted on YouTube.
Gaj-it has reported that Google is willing to pay the celebs $5 million each, with all of the money being made from premium advertising. If this idea does go ahead then it will be an absolute stroke of genius or a miserable failure. I think the success depends on the celebrities that are featured and the quality of the content they provide. Would you like to take a peak into the private life of one of your idols?
