Social networking site Twitter is rapidly growing in user numbers, and consequently is catching up with Facebook. As well as the younger generation taking to the site, it seems to be catching on with us oldies. Here at OSM, Debbie has given a good insight including tips as to how to get started on the site. As well as the Joe Bloggs of this world, celebrities are clicking onto their Twitter accounts to communicate with their fans, and one such person is that of boxer “Amir Khan.”
Last December, saw the 24-year old Bolton boxer take to the ring against Argentinian opponent “Marcos Maidana.” In a gripping fight, Khan won, its fair to say he took the fight early on but in the tenth round, things got a little worrying when Maidana hit back. The WBA light welterweight champion Khan has taken to Twitter to talk to fans and let them know why he thought he got through the fight by the skin of his teeth!
According to the young boxer, he was over-trained, therefore, it made him weak when it came to the actual fight. He tweeted, “I don’t know if you know I over-trained for the Maidana fight. I did well but I know I could have done better. 13 weeks training was too long. Previous fights I felt sharp, but I remember I was on pads in changing room. I didn’t have the snap in shots but was hitting hard. I felt heavy. Freddie Roach agreed.” Where do you feel it went wrong? Boxingnews24.com think its because the boxer spent too much time running around, particularly after the first round after knocking his opponent to the floor.
