We have been hearing various rumours around BlackBerry’s potential handsets for 2011 and now more images have been seen out in the open. We picked them up over at BGR.com where Jonathan S. Geller has put an article together about all of the potential devices.
Already we have seen BlackBerry trying to reel you in before the new devices are officially communicated by releasing a white BlackBerry Torch, but after reading this you may not want one.
The devices that we know RIM/BlackBerry is planning are the Dakota, Apollo, Monaco and the Torch 2. So far we have already reported as much as we know so far on the Torch 2 including the leaked specs. We have also reported on the BlackBerry Storm 3’s specs and release time. We were also aware of the mew Curve that has been dubbed the Apollo and the Dakota is the next in the line of Bold devices from BlackBerry.
Let’s have a look at what we know so far for each device and the new leaked images that have been obtained by BGR.com.
First up is the Dakota, this is the next device in BlackBerry’s Curve range, we know it will have a 2.8” VGA capacitive touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera with HD recording, 4GB of storage, 768MB of RAM, WiFi and 3G. All of this running on the BlackBerry OS 6.1 edition. See below for its new leaked image.
Next, let’s look at the Apollo, this device follows in the line of the BlackBerry Curve, this device will have an 800MHz CPU, a 5-megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS,512MB of RAM, an HGVA display with a resolution of 480 x 360 and it will also include quad-band GSM/GPRS/EGE along with tri-band HSPA 7.2 Mbps radio. Similar to the Dakota, it will run on the BlackBerry OS 6.1 edition. Again, have a look below for its new leaked image.
As for the Torch 2, we have some interesting specs on this device. It will be running on a 1.2GHz processor with 512MB RAM, a 3.2 inch VGA capacitive display with a resolution of 640 x 480, 8GB of inbuilt memory, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and a 5-megapixel camera. Have a look at the latest imaging leak below.
Lastly, let’s look at Monaco aka the BlackBerry Storm 3. The original BlackBerry Storm was a device that was being touted as the ‘Apple Killer’ but let’s face it, it barely made a scratch on Apple’s surface, but can this one? It has a 1.2GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, tri-band UMTS/HSPA The screen is a 3.7” capacitive display at the resolution of 800 x 480.
As things stand, we have no pricing information yet, although we are expecting them in the not too distant future. So far things are looking pretty impressive for BlackBerry and RIM going forward, but of course, as always we want to know your opinion. Will BlackBerry’s sales are squashed by Android and the Verizon iPhone or will they be able to hold their own?
