Avatar directed by Titanic producer “James Cameron”, hit our screens in December 2009, with a whopping two billion dollars taken at the box office and to date has won 3 Oscars, 28 other wins and has been nominated at least 58 times. News has been announced that Cameron is now hoping to film the next Pandora sequel under the ocean, some 6.8 miles under! If Cameron achieves this, he will be on his way to winning a $10 million X-Prize.
X-Prize, you are wondering? This award is given out by the non-profit organization the “X-Prize Foundation”. It gives recognition out to those who defy belief with the latest radical developments in technological advances to be it, spacecraft, robots on the moon and cleaner fuel efficient cars!
Cameron is hoping to be the next in line when he travels to the depths of the ocean to win the coveted prize. According to Samuel Axon at Mashable, the competition is based on two closely watched dives to “Challenger Deep”, the deepest point in all of the oceans.
Will this prove to be one of Cameron’s greatest challenges yet? In the past, he has shot “Ghosts of the Abyss”, “Aliens of the Deep”, and films such as “Titanic” and “The Abyss”.
