Tesco online beauty consultation via Google Plus Hangouts

Tesco is using Google Plus to launch its one-to-one online beauty consultation service in the form of video conferencing. The way it all works is rather simple, consumers can get free confidential video consultations by booking them and then bloggers and industry experts will help them through Google Plus ‘hangouts’.

The Drum reports that consumers can book for free, and then thanks to a video link they will get confidential 15-20 minute consultations. These can be about skincare, make-up, beauty and hair via bloggers thanks to the Tesco Beauty Hub at Tesco Living.

Users will get an email following each of the sessions, which will then detail the product overviews and recommendations. This is the first time Tesco’s has offered any type of online beauty consultations.

This new Tesco service was created by digital agency Zone, and is all about building brand loyalty as well as increasing customer engagement. Social media is the best platform on the Web to do such a thing. Social media is at the forefront of building new awareness and of course supplying valuable information to customers.

“The launch of beauty hangouts as part of our marketing strategy will continue to drive the growth of the beauty category within Tesco,” said Tesco marketing director Mark Baxter. There is a lot of jargon people do not understand, and consumers are finding it very hard to shop in the category and that is why this has been set up, to make life easier and helpful.
