U.S. FDA @FDArecalls Twitter account and FDA website announced Oma’s Pride ‘Purr’ cat food has been recently recalled after potential Salmonella contamination, the product in question is the ‘Purr Complete Feline Poultry Meal’.
This new Oma’s Pride ‘Purr Complete Feline Poultry Meal’ recall is nationwide, because after a routine test salmonella was found in some of the products. This is a major risk because not only can cats have the potential of being contaminated with salmonella after being consumed, humans can also be at risk if they handle the pet products.
If you have been handling Oma’s Pride ‘Purr Complete Feline Poultry Meal’ you will need to wash your hands thoroughly and then read on.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports the Avon, Connecticut-based company has recalled the 12 ounce (UPC: 8 79384 00017 9) and 2 pound (UPC: 8 79384 00018 6) Purr-Complete Feline Poultry Meal products, which were manufactured on September 12, 2014 – These products would also have use by recommended date of September 12, 2015 with the code #1524 attached.
It was after the Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development done its routine check on the cat food product the test proved positive for salmonella.
Salmonella Symptoms
12 to 72 hours after infection: abdominal cramps, diarrhea and fever. If your pet has any of these systems take them to the vets, if you have any of the above symptoms you are advised to contact your doctor.
What To Do Now
