Ello could be a Facebook killer

The new Ello social network is invite only just like Google Plus was when it begun, and some are saying Ello could possible be a Facebook Killer, or at the very least steal Facebook users. Forget your real name and do not worry about ads, because Ello doesn’t care for them.

Ello is still in its beta stage but newcomers can still “request and invitation” by visiting the bottom of this page. The good thing about the new Ello social media network is that they do not want to use ads, and according to The Daily Dot Facebook users are already leaving and signing up to Ello.

Google Trends is showing right now ‘Ello’ with 50,000+ searches, this is because people are hearing about the simple ad-free site, which Facebook clearly doesn’t have.

What Is Ello?

Paul Budnitz is the man behind Ello and he has heard about Facebook getting tighter with its real name policy. However, those that sign up to Ello will not have to worry about using their real name – Ello actually encourages you to be who you want to be.

All Ello asks if its users is to abide by the rules, these invlude standard behavior, Ello does not like trolls, stalking, hate or negative behavior, if any of these occur they will ban and nuke accounts – This is fair enough and reasonable.

The Ello manifesto is worth reading, because in a way if digs other social media sites in a nice way. Love the part where they say, “Every post you share, every friend you make and every link you follow is tracked, recorded and converted into data. Advertisers buy your data so they can show you more ads. You are the product that’s bought and sold.”
