Yahoo buying Tumblr: David Karp fortune & teen reactions

Yahoo recently announced buying blogging site Tumblr in a $1.1 billion deal in the hope to continue its success, after this acquisition the 178 employees will make a lot of money with the first 10 employees collecting in the region of $6.2million each, while the first 30 will make about $3.3million.

Tumblr founder David Karp will make a staggering $250million thanks to the sale to Yahoo, the above figures leaves the other employees making around $371,000.

Crain’s New York Business reported these figures by after citing data via research firm PrivCo, Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer said on her very own Tumblr page that will promise not to screw it up, which we think is ice because it is to the point and light-hearted.

Karp will continue his role as CEO of Tumblr, last year Tumblr’s revenue hit only $13million and this was made after capital investments of $125million.

Has Tumblr made the right decision selling to Yahoo?
We have seen a lot of reactions on line and right at the top of the list is ‘Teen Reactions’, we have seen a pattern with their love for Facebook and those alike and have seen many teenagers leaving Facebook for social networking services such as Twitter and Tumblr.

Yahoo purchased Tumblr for one reason and one reason only; we have learned that they want the teen base because this is where the popularity and high traffic is. Take for example Facebook buying Instagram for a billion dollars; yet again they want the kids following them
