Contemplating PlayStation Vita release date and games

Like us here at OSM, there will be many of you waiting for the new handheld gaming console to arrive, yep that’s right the new Sony PS Vita. Announced officially at the E3 gaming event in the summer, along with news of what it will look like and features to offer us, we can now update you with its release date.

Back at the beginning of September, we brought you news that retailer Amazon were in fact allowing you to pre-order the handheld, with a rumored shipping date in the US of December 31st 2011. Along with this, Best Buy in Canada and news of Amazon UK were detailed stating that 3G and WiFi+3G models would be available with a release date of March 2012.

This is about to change with a posting from Jack Tretton at blog.us.playstation.com, who has stated that following on from the Web 2.0 in San Francisco, the handheld console will be available on February 22nd 2012 within major retailers throughout Canada, Latin America, Europe and of course the US.

In relation to gaming titles there are hoped to be plenty in the mix, including Uncharted Golden Abyss, Capcom’s Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, EA Sports’ FIFA, Call of Duty, Resistance: Burning Skies, Little Big Planet using the new touch screen technology and so on. As well as rich gaming content, social apps will be accessible such as Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare allowing you to keep updated with friends.
