Sprint, AT&T & Verizon iPhone 4S: Which One?

After some fifteen months of waiting, Apple finally announced yesterday what new handset they would be bringing to retailers, that of the iPhone 4S. Disappointment was felt with many hoping and even expecting a brand new iPhone 5 to surface, this looks to be something for next year.

Along with its specifications and prices across all three storage capacities, we just wanted to reliterate who the three US carriers are and that all important news of when you are likely to receive your new device. Already rumored to be running with the new iPhone, the announcement of Sprint joining the likes of Verizon and AT&T really came as no surprise.

We had already brought you two separate articles, talking about the possibility of Sprint offering its customers unlimited data plans to that of the tiered variety, and that of Sprint joining the other major US operators.

As Cnet reported, this is the first time in the history of the iPhone, that three of the four US carriers will be retailing the new handset. With pre-orders being taken from this Friday 7th October, the iPhone 4S will go on sale next Friday 14th October. There may be of course some of you, who have already traded-in your current iPhone 4 for a new one, whilst after yesterday’s event, many may wish to not bother.

Before we refresh you with what the new iPhone 4S in terms of new specs, we just wanted to delve a little deeper with what the new Apple device will offer its new carriers.

We thought it only fair to talk about Sprint first as they have been waiting for nearly four years to carry the Apple iPhone. According to Cnet, the US operator has bought $20 million of iPhones to sell to consumers, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has noted that Sprint will purchase in the region of 30.5 million iPhones in the next four years, making a grand total of $20 billion that Sprint would have paid out. But the one saving grace that Sprint has over its counterparts, AT&T and Verizon is of course those unlimited data plans that we mentioned. So will this be enough to tempt customers away?

AT&T have been lucky enough to hold onto the iPhone 4 for the last four years and will continue to do so, despite some wondering for a small time, whether Verizon would entice customers to them with their own version of Apple’s popular handset. We have to point out that in the no so distant future, out of the three US operators, AT&T will be the only ones offering all three iPhone models that of the 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and in choosing their carrier, customers may want to consider AT&T’s wireless network as being faster than the other two.

Verizon Wireless will too benefit from a sea of consumers when the iPhone 4S finally arrives, let’s remind you that you can pre-order your new device from Friday 7th. Being the largest carrier out of the three, Verizon’s fast 4G LTE network will not be running on Apple’s new handset, but classed now as a “world phone” Verizon customers can now roam onto other networks when abroad.

Head on over to Cnet to take a look at some of the questions from consumers and the answers received, along with details about T-Mobile and its future with Apple.

In terms of new specs, the Apple iPhone 4S will stay the same with its appearance but its the internals that have been changed somewhat. A new 8 megapixel camera with added face detection is now included along with full HD 1080p video recording, dual-core A5 processor giving twice the power, seven times the graphics power of the current iPhone 4 and so on.
