US Samsung Galaxy S II Attain: AT&T October 2nd

Samsung’s monumental new smartphone by the name of the Galaxy S II, is wowing a huge number of customers with the company looking to achieve their yearly target of 10 million sold units. Before the handset had even officially released, we had a gut feeling it would do well, the specifications were more than impressive. But the poor US up until the end of last week, had been waiting patiently for the new addition to arrive, so they too can reap its benefits.

US carrier Sprint officially launched their Galaxy S II variant the “Epic 4G Touch” last Friday and with its release, comes a slight change in specs and appearance compared to the global Galaxy S II version. Many customers also hoping to pick up AT&T’s version the “Attain” were led to believe that the handset would launch shortly after Sprint’s. Just two days ago, it became apparent that the AT&T offering would not in fact be coming, leaving people to vent their frustration and disappointment across the internet.

We ourselves asked the question of whether you had or were waiting for the Attain or whether you are holding out for the T-Mobile Galaxy S II X as its known.

Brightening up your day now, it seems that the AT&T is on its way and will be surfacing on October 2nd, well that’s according to multiple sources including In terms of features, the Attain will come out of the three variants with a 4.3-inch display, matching that of the bulk standard Galaxy S II. Speed wise, the Attain will run on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 8 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel to the front, benefit of 1080p video recording, HDMI for streaming High Definition, of course AT&T’s 4G HSPA+ network and Samsung’s new TouchWiz user interface.

Joe Wilcox at was keen to point out that the new Attain will retail for a stand-alone price of $549.99, with a two-year contract in place for $199.99 with a minimum monthly figure of $15.

We have to say the competition is heating up now with Verizon’s Motorola Droid Bionic officially launched some two weeks ago. Just yesterday we compared that to a new HTC model by the name of the Raider, both with support for 4G LTE. Obviously Apple’s iPhone 5 is on the way and yesterday we brought you news that an event is scheduled on October 4th when one or even two handsets the (iPhone 4S) will be launched.

Tell us where you stand with the AT&T Galaxy S II Attain? Have you been waiting for its arrival or perhaps you have already chosen to go with Sprint or even T-Mobile when their variant arrives?
