Update HTC Inspire 4G with Gingerbread: Download Android 2.3.3

Here at OSM we like to bring our readers news on the latest updates available for their smartphones and just a couple of weeks ago told how many AT&T handsets would soon be receiving the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update. At that time the download was ready for the Motorola Atrix 4G but now HTC Inspire 4G owners will be pleased to learn that the download is now ready for them too.

Other HTC owners have not been so lucky and we’ve recently informed of disappointments regarding the Gingerbread update for HTC Desire customers and also those who have the HTC Thunderbolt. News of the Gingerbread update now being ready for the HTC Inspire 4G comes to us from Chris Parsons over on Android Central, sourced from HTC. Users can either check now for system updates or download the Gingerbread update from the HTC support site here.

The press release from HTC tells how the system update will be over the air and is now rolling out. You may receive a notification to your device that the update is ready which will also give instructions for receiving the update and installing it on your Inspire 4G or alternatively look for system updates as we mentioned above by going to Home>Menu>Settings> AT&T Software Update > HTC Wi-Fi software update > Check now. If you choose to download the Gingerbread upgrade from the support site (link above) this will be manually applied.

Android Central also gives the useful advice of backing up your device if you intend to manually update as user information stored will be deleted with a manual update and it won’t be possible to restore it. Over on Gotta Be Mobile, Adam Mills also reports on the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update for the Inspire 4G and gives step-by-step instructions on using the ROM update. There’s also a handy list of what else to expect from the update such as enhanced HTC Sense, new application tray features and FriendStream features, quick settings added to notifications, a better media experience and power management function and also the usual bug fixes.

Other AT&T smartphones that will also be receiving the Gingerbread update soon are the LG Phoenix, Pantech Crossover, Samsung Infuse 4G and Samsung Captivate. Are you an Inspire 4G owner and if so have you already received your Gingerbread update? What are your thoughts on the improvements? We’d be interested to hear from you so do send us your comments on this.

Lost most of my contacts! Enjoy having a zoom on my camera (should’ve
been a given to begin with) but not thrilled about my contacts being
gone. And to make it worse it seems the guy at the store saved all of my
contacts to my phone so they aren’t backed up anywhere. Now I know

Question..when I go to gallery there are pictures
automatically on the menu page. Is there any way to change them to ones
    that I choose??
