When you think about the smartphone market at the moment there’s a chance that any manufacturer can do well when they take on the Google Android operating system. One that many people like and have been enjoying for a while now is the Motorola ATRIX which has been baking Gingerbread and guess what… it’s nearly done!
Very recently we added a report talking about one of Motorola’s intentions with the Gingerbread update which is to unlock the bootloader. As things stand the dual-core device is rocking with Android 2.2 which has been find so far, but people always like a cheeky little update to their OS don’t they.
We learned that the update is on its way because of an article we saw by John V over on phonearena.com. He talks about how Motorola was looking for 1,000 owners so they could do a beta test for Android Gingerbread 2.3 and it looks like it’s going to be rolled out to them in batches.
It’s certainly looking good for Motorola and the ATRIX 4G owners who are participating in the beta testing, the one thing we do know is that providing there’s no major issues with the OS then we could be looking at a new OS release in the not too distant future. Now is certainly a good time for the device to get the upgrade as it’s still very current and continuing to sell well on the AT&T network.
The news broke of the tester’s version that was coming through an article over on droidmatters.com where Zack Nebbaki has added an article talking about the happenings. A tipster seems to have shared an email that they received about the update even though they were asked not to. They have also asked in the email that nothing is shared with communities such as the XDA forums; you know that those guys would be all over it like a rash and would have a working version before it’s released by Google.
Already the update has been rolling out to the beta testers so be sure to keep an ear to the ground for any discoveries. We are hoping that at least one of the people in the testing sample are technical minded and share the findings of any improvements, any bad things about it with the world. Fingers remaining firmly crossed!
