Motorola Droid Bionic New Design Image: Promo Before Release

Here at OSM we’ve not held back with our enthusiasm for the Motorola Droid Bionic, despite unfortunate delays for ‘enhancements.’ We recently told how we felt this would be a handset worth waiting for and not long ago showed some leaked images that were said to be the new improved Bionic. We now have news though of very clear image of the redesigned Droid Bionic from Best Buy promo materials.

The leaked materials show what we think looks like a mightily impressive design and one we think will please many consumers. We know that many of our readers are waiting for the Droid Bionic’s release on Verizon and recently gave news of rumored release dates showing there is not too much longer to wait so the Best Buy material will give hope to many that it really is on the way. The image shows a different form factor to the original Droid Bionic that once made its way to the Verizon website. It has a squarer look (see below) and we think it looks glossy and sleek.

This info came to us from Chris Ziegler over on This is My Next and if you were excited before wait until you see the advertising blurb. Beginning with “Control it and you control everything”, it goes on to describe the Bionic thus, “With the ferocious force of Verizon 4G LTE, the DROID BIONIC is an all powerful, unstoppable machine.” With blurb like that I’m expecting it to make the coffee too! As there are still no dual-core 4G LTE handsets on Verizon we think this is one worth waiting for, especially given the recent report on Verizon having the fastest network.

There’s still no confirmation of a release date with the promotional material merely saying “coming soon” but it’s looking very much like late July or early August as we said before and the fact that Best Buy now has promo material ready is another good sign. As a brief recap on specs we know that the Bionic will have the dual-core processor, HDMI Mirror Mode and dual-cameras and this is confirmed in the material. It’s also rumored that the ‘new’ Bionic could have a whopping 4.5-inch display. We also posted an article 2 days ago about the possibility of Netflix HD coming to the Droid Bionic and Droid 3 so that may be another feature that could appeal to consumers.

What are your thoughts on the latest image of the Droid Bionic and do you like the new form? Does this news make you happy that you waited for the Droid Bionic, or maybe you’re more tempted by the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the Apple iPhone 5? Why not let us know by sending your comments.

I don’t really care about the look of the phone. It just looks like an android phone to me. What I do care about is the performance, stability, unlocked bootloader, good battery life and a great high res screen all of which I’m hoping this phone will have..

Finally!! Now if I can just figure out how to enable CDMA/GPS on 3G so I can use this awesome beast overseas. I love the 4.5 screen (I got big hands). Today is the last day to get an “unlimited data plan” on the Verizon network. Borrow one, buy one do whatever it takes to get a smartphone activated otherwise you will be sorry. This phone was made to eat bandwidth. Who ever is saying you will only average 2Gig a month is lying to you. Don’t believe it. You will need unlimited for the Bionic otherwise go back to a tracphone and surf at home unless you have deep pockets to pay the overage.
