Peter Falk & Columbo Become Twitter Trending Topics After Death

June 25, 2021 | Debbie Turner

Sad news reached us yesterday that Peter Falk, celebrated actor and most-fondly remembered for his role as Columbo, had died. He was an actor with a unique style of his own and so we should not be surprised at the outpouring of emotions and respect for him. Since the news came out the terms ‘Peter Falk’ and ‘Columbo’ have become trending topics on Twitter and tributes have flooded in.

Falk died in his sleep at his home in Beverly Hills, aged 83. The cause of death has not been made public yet but it has been said that the actor may have been suffering from Alzheimers in recent years, according to Josh Wolford on WebProNews. We should remember that although Falk will be forever associated as the raincoat-wearing detective with his “just one more thing” catchphrase, he was a much-lauded actor of stage and screen with many prominent film roles too. As with many celebrity deaths recently, such as Ryan Dunn and Clarence Clemons, Twitter has become an obvious platform for showing respects as it is so immediate and that’s exactly what happened.

Within a short time of the reports of Falk’s death the Trending Topics list included ‘Peter Falk,’ ‘Columbo’ and also a film that he appeared in, ‘Princess Bride.’ Today ‘Peter Falk’ and ‘Columbo’ still remain in the Twitter trending topics list (shown above). As expected, celebrities have also taken to Twitter with tributes for Falk and you can see a selection of them at the WebProNews link above. A further selection of Twitter tributes can be viewed on Entertainment Weekly.

I would like to add my own tribute to Peter Falk and have many happy memories of being with all my family, watching episode upon episode of Columbo. It was something we all looked forward to and he will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. Please leave your thoughts and tributes for Peter Falk and his family by sending us your comments.
