We’ve been bringing you all the news from E3 2011 and there’s a lot of interesting stuff that’s already been revealed such as an Xbox 360 Gears of War limited edition console bundle, news on the Sony PS Vita, a Sony 3D 24-inch TV monitor and news on a Resistance 3 bundle. Now we have news of an Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel control, with price and release details.
Although motion control systems such as Microsoft’s Kinect are becoming more and more popular many of you may still prefer the feel of a control in your hands and this is where the Wireless Speed Wheel comes in, although to be exact it’s not exactly wheel-shaped. According to Vlad Savov over on Engadget, sourced from Major Nelson, the release is set for early October.
If you take a look at the image you can see there are green light bands on the controller for visual clues and something that many will enjoy are directional and action buttons integrated to the handles. You’ll also get force feedback via rumble and trigger buttons on the underneath, which allow the user to hit the gas or the brakes. All this for what seems to us a very sensible price of $60. We should point out that although the source states that the Wireless Speed Wheel is “compatible with all racing games right out of the box,” a caveat reads, “limited functionality in some games,” so you may want to bear that in mind.
