Nintendo Wii 2 Rumored Name Change To “Nintendo”

June 6, 2021 | Maddy Rowe

Keen gamers will know that E3 2011 is due to get underway tomorrow (June 7th), and with it, we will no doubt be hearing news of Nintendo’s next Wii gaming console, Sony’s NGP, possible news of PS4, gaming titles and so on. If we turn our attention to Nintendo‘s new Wii gaming console, another rumor has come to the surface today in relation to its name.

Over the last few weeks, we have brought you news about the Wii’s controllers and their possible inclusion of a touchscreen, Mashable has stated that according to one Japanese source by the name of Nikkei, the screen will be in the region of 6-inches. No doubt this will make for a different gaming experience with the possibility of four player split screen games. We gave you news that screen stream technology and camera may be featured, of which the latter has been reportedly confirmed. Along with this the console is rumored to work from a built-in rechargeable battery.

In terms of name, one would assume that Wii 2 would be the obvious choice but according to Slashgear via Game Informer, the name could be that of just “Nintendo.”

Until official news from Nintendo at E3 confirms this, we will have to wait and see, hopefully the console will come earlier than with its previously anticipated 2012 release.

What are you hoping to hear from Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft at E3?
