We’ve been keeping readers informed with all the news and speculation surrounding the next iPad, the Apple iPad 3. Now we hear of new reports that an iPad 3 may be here in time for the holiday season and not only that but it will also have LTE capability and an improved display.
We previously told how previous rumors about a fall release for the next iPad seemed to have been disproved by part suppliers and then more recently we told how although sources report that component suppliers for the iPad 3 are already being certified by Apple, the same sources reported we would not see its release until 2012. We also spoke about the possibility of a much-improved display and now an article by Seth Weintraub over on 9to5Mac, sourced from The Wall Street Journal gives us the latest news.
Asia-based CLSA has issued a research note, part of which reads, “While most vendors appear fixated on matching the specs and features of iPad2, our checks suggest Apple will release iPad3 in time for the holiday season, sporting a better display and LTE capabilities.” That seems to spell things out pretty clearly and the hope of an iPad 3 in time for the holiday season will no doubt make a lot of people very happy. On top of that LTE capabilities for Verizon’s already established 4G LTE network and AT&T’s LTE network being launched soon, will be a huge selling point for a new iPad, especially if the report is accurate and it arrives in time for Christmas. You can see details of Verizon 4G LTE here, or AT&T’s 4G LTE here.
However if you’re hoping for an LTE iPhone 5 (or 4S) then the same report suggest it will definitely not be released in 2011. What are your thoughts on an LTE iPad 3 for the holiday season? We certainly hope these reports are accurate. Let us know what you think by sending us your comments.
