May 14, 2022 | Tim Ollason

When it comes to social media and social networking Twitter has been growing very quickly in terms of the number of users and the amount of time that those users spend on the there. One of the reasons for this will be partly because of the number of celebrities that are turning to Twitter to be closer to their fans.

Now we have read a report over on AllTwitter about the Twitter usage stats for 2011 so far and we want to know from you If you are surprised or not. The stats were revealed in San Francisco at the #devnest conference where their CEO Dick Costolo starting things off with the chairman Jack Dorsey.

The stats show that the overall number of tweets per day is up in Q1 by 41% and the total number of people signing up to Twitter grew by a massive 52%. We believe that whilst the giant social network is growing anyway, it has been aided by the massive increase in mobile use; it’s up 104% on the Android platform, 72% on the iPad, 55% on the iPhone and 51% on the BlackBerry platform.

This doesn’t come as a shock following the rise of Android smartphones and the number of apps that have been added to their Android Market app store. You can read more about the conference and stats from where they have added an article.
