Google Now Offer Movie Rental On Android Phones & Tablets

May 11, 2022 | Matt Tran

Google have further strengthened their powerful Android operating system by introducing movie rental. Owners will now be able to hire the latest films as they please from their smartphones and tablets.

We announced last week that Google’s video sharing giant, YouTube is also entering the movie rental market after deals with a majority of the big Hollywood studios. The same studios which include Sony and Warner Brothers will also be supplying Android with movies, Mashable has reported.

A vast movie library of over 3,000 films has now made its way on to the Android Market, where movies can be rented directly. Users have the option of whether to directly stream the movie, or download it so that they can watch it whilst offline for a certain period of time. The Telegraph has reported that the movie rental feature from Android will start exclusively in the US, but will expand soon to Europe and beyond.

Movie rentals will begin at $1.99 and once the user has purchased it they will have a time period of 30 days in which to watch it. Once the film has begun, the consumer will have 24 hours to enjoy it before it becomes unavailable. How do you like the fact that you could soon be watching the latest movies on the go, straight from your smartphone or tablet? Tell us by leaving a comment.
