April 18, 2022 | Maddy Rowe

Back at the end of March, we brought you news of the official specs, release date and price of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer and how at the time it really wasn’t getting the attention that it quite rightly deserved. With the iPad 2 taken precedence over others on the tablet market, it seemed that the Asus may struggle to keep up with this and big names such as the BlackBerry PlayBook, Motorola Xoom and so on. But judging by today’s news, the Asus model has been doing extremely well within the UK market.

So well in fact, that stocks of the device have run dry and now consumers will have to wait for a fresh supply, possibly as long as early May. Asus have commented by saying that this is down to “unprecedented demand” and due to “additional testing,” this has in fact had an affect on the first UK batches of the tablet.

As Slashgear reported, Asus have followed on by saying that “the UK is the global launch partner and will continue to see the largest volumes of stock globally,” it is still unclear as to when America will indeed receive their orders. has stated that online retailer are advertising the Eee Pad Transformer with an arrival time of June and a retail price of £429.99 for the entire unit, that’s the tablet with keyboard dock. In response to this, Asus have hit back by saying that customers will not have to wait for another 2 months or so to get their hands on the Asus as the device will be sent out to other stockists including that of Currys, Comet, Carphone Warehouse and PC World.

For those of you who may not be ofaye with the tablet, then lets refresh you. The 10.1-inch tab device can be converted into a keyboard with the use of the docking station. This in turn will then up the battery life to a fantastic 16 hours. Running on Android’s Honeycomb 3.0 OS and with a Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, the Asus will also include 1GB of RAM, HDMI port, 16GB or 32GB storage, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front and so on.

Tell us have you managed to get your hands on one of these, if so what are your initial thoughts on it? Are you satisfied? What swayed you into making your decision?
