India Wins Cricket World Cup: Twitter Bollywood Congratulations

If you’re a cricket fan, or even if you’re not, then you must have noticed the frenzy of excitement today about the ICC Cricket World Cup Final which was estimated to have been watched by one billion people across the globe. India eventually went on to win the World Cup and this has prompted many Bollywood stars to send congratulations on Twitter.

It was a gripping day of play but when India beat Sri Lanka it was the first time they had taken the title since 1983 and, as you can imagine, sparked scenes of jubilation across the country, and many parts of the world. Twitter became a frenzy of activity as fans celebrated and Bollywood celebrities turned out to share their feelings.

Shahid Kapoor tweeted, “What an experience !!!!!!! To be there and witness history … Blessed …. Innnndiiiaaaaaaaaaaa,” according to Sheetal Makhan, over on BollySpice. Dev Anand said, “Congratulations India now we are AWWAL NUMBER!!!!!! God bless all,” while Madhuri Dixit tweeted, “Congrats Team India!!! We did it!!!! Great job bringing the cup back!!! Strong work Dhoni, Tendulkar and company!! What an awesome match. Both sides played well.”

One of the most emotional tweets came from Anushka Sharma who tweeted, “We have witnessed history today.will remember this moment for ever.don’t remember the last time I felt this happy.indian team …. Thank u:). Arshad Warsi simply said, “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa …. WE WON THE WORLD CUP… Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa,” while Anupam Kher tweeted, “THANK YOU #TeamIndia for giving us this GLORIOUS and PROUD moment. JAI HO.:”
