Many of us have been waiting for news on a release date for the HTC Droid Incredible 2 in the U.S. on Verizon, following its release as the Incredible S in the U.K. We have now heard a rumor that the Incredible 2 release is imminent and to the original Incredible we have to say R.I.P.
We’ve included the Droid Incredible 2 in our recent roundup of Verizon Droid-branded upcoming smartphones and previously took a look at the specs, which are pretty notable and include a 4-inch Super LCD WVGA display with an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing. The Incredible 2 will also have 4GB of internal storage, 768MB of RAM and is powered by a 1GHz processor all running on Android 2.3, Gingerbread.
We previously noted speculation that the Incredible 2 would make its US appearance at the end of March or in April for the first anniversary of the original Droid Incredible. It’s looking hopeful and does now appear imminent particularly in light of the fact that Verizon has now withdrawn the original Droid Incredible from sale on its website, according to Kyle Gibb over on Android Central, sourced from Verizon.
The original Incredible was a big success and the Incredible 2 looks set to take over the mantle. Android Central also says it has received “reliable information” that the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is indeed to be released “very, very soon.” Adam Mills over on GottaBeMobile reports that the Incredible 2 also popped up in Best Buy’s system, which is another sign that the release is imminent.
Are you waiting for the release of the HTC Droid Incredible 2 on Verizon? What is it that’s made you want this particular handset over the many other new and upcoming smartphones? Why not let us have your comments.
