Ainol Tablet with Honeycomb: Chunky But Appealing

March 28, 2022 | Debbie Turner

This year has seen a proliferation of new and upcoming tablets announced and among the many notable ones are the Apple iPad 2, which has just been released, and the upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook. The Motorola Xoom tablet is also hugely popular, running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and now we have news of a tablet from a maker you may not be as familiar with. This time it’s an Ainol tablet, again with Honeycomb and although it looks a little chunky it does have some appeal.

The Ainol tablet is due for release next month although there’s no price available yet and no name either but some teasers that have shown up so far have revealed an ARM Cortex A9 processor with a 1280 x 800 IPS capacitive touchscreen display (unknown size). Other details include WiFi and 3G connectivity, HDMI out and a microSD card slot, according to Donald Melanson over on Engadget, sourced from MP4Nation.

From the brief glimpses shown so far we see a white tablet with an array of buttons and if you’re expecting one of the new slimline tablets then this will not be for you as its curved back makes the tablet look quite substantial. However although it may not be as sleek as some others, it does have a certain appeal. It appears that it may feature a kickstand and there’s also a front-facing camera.

We’ll certainly be interested to find out more about this Honeycomb tablet and price will be a big factor in its success. What are your thoughts on this Ainol tablet? Is it something you may be tempted to purchase? Let us know your thoughts.
