CTIA 2011: Sidekick 4G for T-Mobile Price & Hands-On Look

One of the latest smartphones to come to our attention is the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G by Samsung. We’ve already taken a look at some specs and also a demonstration of the device but now we have news that the phone is official and we also have a price for you.

The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G Android smartphone will be priced at $99.99 on a 2-year contract with unlimited data, that’s after rebate. Alternatively on a 2-year contract with a lower-end data plan it will set you back $149.99. The Sidekick 4G will be running on Android 2.2 and one of its biggest selling points will be that 4G capability.

The news on the Sidekick 4G comes to us from Joanna Stern over on Engadget who also got a hands-on look at the device at CTIA 2011. You can see the hands-on video experience below this story. Stern notes that for a mid-range phone the hardware feels decent if a bit plasticky, there’s no flash but there is a front-facing camera. From what Engadget saw it was pointed out that Sidekick fans will probably be heading out to buy this new handset and it would be good for frequent texters.

Some of the features and specs of this handset are a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and five-row QWERTY keyboard, cloud text and group text and you can find out much more as it’s now listed on the official T-Mobile product pages here as coming soon.
