Since we first heard of the Motorola Droid Bionic smartphone we’ve been becoming more and more excited about this 4G dual-core processor phone, due for the second quarter for the Verizon LTE network. We’ve had many requests following our articles, for more news on a release date but until now we’d had no further details. Now though, we have a rumored release date for the Droid Bionic of mid-April.
We’ve really liked the look and sound of this phone from everything we’ve heard about it so far and included it in a look ahead at upcoming Droid-branded phones on Verizon a few days ago. We’ve also published a Droid Bionic vs. HTC Thunderbolt comparison and only yesterday in our HTC Thunderbolt review roundup, mentioned that if people really needed fast speeds now, then the Thunderbolt might be the phone for them, but that otherwise, a better option might be to wait for the Droid Bionic as not only is it a 4G Android phone (like the Thunderbolt) but it will also have a dual-core processor (unlike the Thunderbolt).
Some people may have already purchased a Thunderbolt as there was no release date available for the Droid Bionic and they weren’t sure how long they’d have to wait but now we’ve heard of this mid-April rumored release date from Chris Burns over on Android Community. When in a Verizon store they asked some questions about the Droid Bionic and were rather surprised when Verizon quite happily gave out some news of its release. Although the information didn’t come with a confirmed release date Verizon seemed pretty sure it was coming in mid-April.
Meanwhile if you’re interested in another snippet about the Droid Bionic you could do worse than check out an article by Brad Molen over on Unwired View. Apparently a poem has been posted by somebody who has previously supplied accurate info about Verizon products and this poem is about the HTC Thunderbolt but gives clues to a Droid Bionic release date.
The poem is all rather cryptic but over on Unwired View they’ve had a good stab at attempting to decipher what it all means. We’d say it really only confirms (if accurate) that the Droid Bionic should be with us in the second quarter as we already knew, but you might want to take a look at the poem and decode it for yourself. Let us know if you come up with more info from it!
