HTC Thunderbolt Release 14 February: Amazon Get In On Act

February 8, 2022 | Maddy Rowe

In recent weeks, we have been bringing you updates in relation to the new HTC Thunderbolt smartphone and its subsequent release. The device which is coming to the big red carrier Verizon, is topped to be a stiff contender against the likes of the iPhone 4.

It is still difficult to gauge what official date the Thunderbolt will be with us, some have said Valentines Day, the 14th February or a week later on the 24th, but one piece of news that grabbed our attention today, is that of Amazon and as BGR stated a listing that has been spotted with the inclusion of the Thunderbolt along with the words, “The HTC Thunderbolt 4G will be available for purchase starting 2/14.” So again, this begs the question of when we will actually get our hands on one of these?

Tim here at OSM has given us a sneaky “in the flesh” insight into the handset with the help of a demo, as well as possible accessories such as protective casings for the fashion conscious amongst you, as well as news of spare batteries. Although we have no fixed release date to speak of, the Android 4G device has shown up on a Best Buy listing with users being able to pre-order their Thunderbolt with a deposit of just $50.

This ties in with a report we brought you on the 20th January with news of the retailer offering the HTC as part of their “exclusive retail sale deal,” and that Verizon’s iPhone would be left out in the cold!

With the iPhone 4 on Verizon just about to launch itself in a couple of days time on the 10th February, its difficult to know whether the HTC will be pushed back to make room for the iPhone. Whatever the outcome, the HTC is packing some pretty fantastic features including 4.3-inch Super LCD display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 8GB of internal storage with accessibility to expand, running on Android 2.2 and Verizon’s LTE network, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with a 1.3 megapixel front facing for video chat and so on.

As Debbie said, the guys over at Engadget via a “reliable source” are saying that the Thunderbolt will retail in the region of $249.99 on a two-year contract.

Tell us have you pre-ordered your Thunderbolt, and if not, where will you be purchasing yours? Let us know.
