Sony NGP (PSP2): Questions still unanswered

Since the word came about the Sony PSP2 or NGP (Next Generation Portable) as it’s now known, we’ve brought you many articles with news and speculation about this upcoming gaming console. Among our recent posts were a look at the PSP2 vs. the PS3, specs, news on the Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A9 processor and more.

The device will have a 5-inch OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 960 x 544, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity and along with all that, both rear and front-facing cameras. One of the questions we’ve asked about the NGP (PSP2), that’s not yet known, is the price and we wondered how much you’d be willing to pay. Now an article by Scott Stein over on Cnet has caught our attention as it raise other questions about the NGP that we still don’t know the answer to.

One example is the battery life, and it’s said that after the letdown of the battery life on the PSP, this is a significant question. There has been a rumor that the battery life for the NGP will be between 4 and 5 hours, but this is a query that Sony would do well to address. Another area not covered by Sony so far is the price as we’ve already stated, while of course a BIG question on everybody’s lips is about a release date. The article on Cnet speculates the NGP arriving this year and the most likely time being around September.

We’d also like to know more about the game library for the NGP, which we’ve already touched on briefly in a previous article, and Cnet also points out that other unknown factors as yet, surround the memory/storage and also whether there will be video out. These are all questions that remain unanswered and no doubt over the coming months this information will leak out in dribs-and drabs as we’ve come to expect.

If you want to know more about the specs on the Sony Next Generation Portable then check out this page here. We’d like to hear what questions you’d like answered about the NGP and would welcome your comments on this.

I’m willing to pay $800 dollars. I really think NGP will outsell the 3DS as long as it’s between $200-$300 dollars.
