HTC Thunderbolt Release Date: Accessory clues

We know many of you are waiting for the HTC Thunderbolt, one of the new 4G Android smartphones, to be released on Verizon and we’ve been keeping you up-to-date with news and rumors about the device. We included the Thunderbolt in our 5 of the best Android smartphones from CES 2011, and just some of our other posts include a hands-on look and news of a possible announcement at MWC 2011.

A few days ago we gave news of training sessions that had begun at Verizon for the HTC Thunderbolt, which normally means the phone is on its way soon and a while ago we speculated on approximate release dates and prices for upcoming Verizon 4G LTE phones and thought the Thunderbolt could arrive at the end of February or early March. It seems that this could be correct as another clue about its release has come to us by way of Kellex at Droid-Life.

The people over at Best Buy, which will be stocking the phone, have provided Droid-Life with a document showing that an accessory for the Thunderbolt (holster case) is arriving with them on February 19. This on its own is not confirmation of a release date but as Droid-Life points out, when accessories arrive at Best Buy, the device usually goes on sale very shortly afterwards, sometimes within days.

Chris Smith on TFTS also comments about the accessory arrival at Best Buy and makes the valid point that Verizon is likely to want a gap between its CDMA iPhone being released on February 10 and the Thunderbolt’s arrival so all things considered it’s looking likely that the Thunderbolt will be released nearer to the end of February. If you want to find out more about Verizon’s 4G LTE network rollout then check out our article at the link or you can also check out our article about a leaked price from Verizon of $249, although this still has to be confirmed.

We’d like to know if you’re intending to purchase the HTC Thunderbolt, which looks to be a really impressive device, or if you’re weighing-in for a different 4G phone, such as the Motorola Droid Bionic also on Verizon, or the Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T. Please give us your thoughts on this by sending us your comments.
