Apple iPhone 4 for Verizon: Now we could see a Sprint iPhone

We’ve been bringing you news about a Verizon iPhone for what seems like an age and have given a full background of the history of an Apple iPhone for Verizon. However the Verizon iPhone 4 has now at last been made official and after asking earlier today how long we’d have to wait for a Verizon iPhone 5 at least we now know the release details for the iPhone 4 Verizon version.

There’s another interesting point though, especially if you use the Sprint carrier and would also like an iPhone, as the CDMA handset version announced for Verizon today is a non-exclusive deal. Neil Hughes over on Apple Insider reports that this non-exclusivity could indeed mean that Sprint could also get an iPhone.

Just as many people were waiting for an iPhone for the Big Red there must be many Sprint customers who might also like an iPhone on their network. Not only that but it also leaves the route open for a GSM version of the iPhone for the T-Mobile network. The CDMA iPhone announced today could also be used for release in on the China Telecom network.

An article by Chris Burns over on Slash Gear also reports on an iPhone becoming available for Sprint. The point is made that maybe this means a new era of more openness for the Apple range and brand but that of course, remains to be seen.
