Notion Ink Adam Release: Slight delay for much-awaited tablet?

We’ve been bringing you plenty of news about the Notion Ink Adam tablet, the enigmatic device that was finally revealed at CES 2011. This ground-breaking tablet has an almost cult following and among our recent articles we’ve posted a Motorola Xoom vs Notion Ink Adam comparison which got a big response. We also put the Adam in our list of 5 of the best tablets from CES 2011.

Originally we heard from Slash Gear that this evolutionary tablet had sold out on pre-orders within hours and that the release was scheduled for early January. However Chris Davies on Slash Gear has now reported that the pre-order release may be delayed because of a slight labelling issue. Apparently this is because Notion Ink is still waiting for FCC and CE approval codes to be silkscreen printed onto the reverse of the tablets.

As Slash Gear points out, do not confuse this with a problem with FCC approval, it’s merely the labelling that’s holding things up. Slash Gear awaits a statement from Notion Ink but still feels the tablet will be released very shortly. The popular tech website was first notified of the delay from a customer who had pre-ordered the Adam who had received an email from Notion Ink about the minor delay. You can view the full email on the Slash Gear link above.

Meanwhile if you want to read more about the history of the Adam tablet go to the Notion Ink blog for much more about its development. Did you pre-order the device and have you received the same email about the delay? We’d love to hear from you when your device has been shipped so please let us know and send in your comments.

Adam is one of the best tablet released so far. I red article on engadget this morning and they said its a real tablet pc and they praised the job done startup based in Bangalore. I hope delay in destribution will not fade the popularity.
