New Android smartphones: Five of the best from CES

Here at OSM we’re still buzzing with all of the amazing new products we’ve seen come out of CES 2011 and have noticed just how many great new Android smartphones will be hitting the shelves over the next few months. We thought we’d take a look at some of our articles and give you a roundup of 5 of the best we’ve seen with links to where you can find the original posts.

Of course we’re not asserting these are THE top 5 but they’re certainly 5 that could qualify but everybody will have their own ideas of what should be in and what should be out. Among our best would be the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, a beautifully designed slimline handset with a 4.2-inch display and 1GHz Qualcomm processor running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Another that caught our eye, especially for those who like a big screen size, is the Motorola Droid Bionic which is a 4G phone for the Verizon LTE network, running on Android 2.2 with a great 2GHz worth of processing power. Following on from that is the LG Optimus Black, LG’s Android flagship smartphone in 2011, with a 4-inch NOVA display and a 2-megapixel camera. As with the Xperia Arc this handset is incredibly slim and sleek.

Then there’s the HTC EVO Shift 4G phone which was actually released today on Sprint. This one still has a full QWERTY keyboard along with a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display, running on Android 2.2. Lastly we’ll plump for the 4G HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon with a 4.3-inch display and running on Android 2.2 with super-quick LTE speeds shown in a hands-on. It also packs a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.

So there you have it. That’s five of the best but you can see more articles on various other new smartphones here at OSM. Of course now we know that a Verizon iPhone is finally coming this may confuse your choice a little. In the meantime why not let us know if you would add a different phone to this 5 of the best Androids and which one of these phones you’d be most likely to purchase. We always appreciate your comments.
